Most of us will well-recognize one of the key statements establishing the pattern of faith from Genesis 15:6.

Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

But what exactly did Abraham believe, that it was accounted to him for righteousness?

Our turbulent and fallen world can easily cause us to lose perspective of our position in Christ. Abram struggled with this as well and thankfully God recorded it for our benefit.

As I’ve walked in my faith over the years, I’ve found that I often need simple statements of Scripture, that I could reach to in order to set myself straight. I needed to know what is required of me—what are His commandments.

There is much fear and uncertainty in the world, and for good reason. People need hope. They need a Savior.

The love of God the Father is revealed for all of us in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” 

Everlasting life is available to all that believe. 

Revelation 22:17 says “And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” Come!

Should We Fear COVID19?

COVID19 is ravaging the world. None of us know how many will be infected, or how many will survive or die. Will it return again and ravage us worse than now, as the Spanish flu did in 1917 and 1918?

None of us know what this virus will bring.

But the question remains, should we fear?

The term ‘born again’ is used synonymously and correctly with being saved, being a believer in Christ, and being a Christian. 

As with our first birth, there’s also an expectation with our second birth that we will live and grow. Let’s briefly look at the process of Being Born Again.

Have you heard about Cyrus the Great who reigned over Persia between 539-530 BC? Much is said of him in Isaiah 44:24-45:13. What is amazing is that what is written of him was written about 150 years before he was born.

Have you heard about Jesus and the Gospel?

Jesus often repeated the same thing he said in his first recorded sermon.

Matthew 4:17 NKJV reads,
“The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel.”

We need to repent from sin—to change our ways and do right. 

Romans 3:23 NKJV reads,
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

What is the Gospel?

God the Father loves us so much that He chose to restore our relationship with Him the only way possible. That was for His Son Jesus to die on a cross taking all the penalty our sins and then giving us His righteousness.

John 3:16 NKJV reads,
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.”

The free gift of Christ’s righteousness, that covers all your past, present and future sins, is available to all that believe. You need only accept it, repent, believe in Him and make Him Lord of your life. 

Do you want this? If you do, here’s a simple prayer to kick off your new life with the Lord God who made the universe and made you with the very purpose of having a relationship with Him. Simply speak it to him aloud or in your mind. He will hear you.

Dear Lord,
I accept that I am a sinner having done evil things.
I repent of my sin, and I believe in your death on the cross that paid the penalty for my sins.
I turn to you making you Lord of my life, and I will live for you.
Thank you for loving me and accepting me.
Amen.
